Laurel Denise Nancy Planner Review: Small Size, Big Purpose
The Laurel Denise Nancy keeps catching people's eye! That compact size (or large!), that clean layout, that sense that it might be exactly what a specific part of your life needs.
The short answer: it might. But only if you know what it's actually for.

First Impressions: The Nancy (Small)
When the Nancy showed up, I was genuinely impressed by how intentional it felt in person. It's small, but not in a way that makes you feel like you're sacrificing anything, more like it's been sized down to exactly what it needs to be. It fits in my house planning tote without issue and looks right at home on my desk, taking up minimal space.
Paper quality is exactly what I've come to expect from Laurel Denise: no bleed, no ghosting, no matter what pen or marker I’m using. It doesn't feel like something that's going to start falling apart right away. It’s definitely built to last the whole year with regular use.
How I Actually Use My Laurel Denise Nancy
The Nancy is my content and online business planner. That distinction matters. I use this for one focused purpose, not as an everyday catch-all. The Nancy has one job, and it does that job extremely well.
Monthly pages: The monthly boxes are small - enough for key dates, deadlines, and high-level tracking, but not built for writing paragraphs or more than 1 or two events. For a focused planner where you're tracking one category of tasks, it's completely workable. I use mine to get a bird's-eye view of my content month: launch dates, filming days, posting schedule.
Weekly pages: This is where the Nancy really shines in my opinion. The weekly layout gives you two distinct sides, left and right short pages, and I use that division intentionally. One side holds one type of task, the other holds another. For content planning that means pre-production on one side, posting and promo on the other. You can also section each side further if you need even more categories. The compartmentalization potential here is endless for such a compact planner.

What I Love About the Laurel Denise Nancy
The size is a feature, not a compromise. It travels well, sits on the corner of your desk without taking up too much space, and it allows you to focus on a specific area of life.
The monthly and weekly view in one place. I can see my content month and my content week without flipping pages. It gives me the big picture in all the right places!
The weekly layout's flexibility. The short pages have many ways they can be divided. If you’re tracking more than one stream of tasks, this layout handles it without getting complicated.
Paper quality. Zero bleed, zero ghosting. Same as every other Laurel Denise planner. They don’t cut corners here regardless of size.
What I'd Change
The monthly boxes are small. If you need to write more than a few words per day on your monthly view, you'll feel the constraint. For a focused planner this works fine. You're not trying to capture everything here. But if you're considering the Nancy as an all-in-one life planner, consider the large size, otherwise this is the feature most likely to frustrate you.
That's the primary limitation worth knowing before you buy.
Who the Laurel Denise Small Nancy Is For
This planner makes the most sense if you:
Want a dedicated planner for one specific area of life - content creation, fitness tracking, faith journaling, a specific project, a side business, etc.
Prefer a horizontal planner layout
Need to compartmentalize different types of tasks within the same week
Have small or medium handwriting
Want something compact that travels well or lives on a corner of your desk
Already have a primary life planner and want a focused companion
Who It's Not For
People with large handwriting. The compact format has limits. If you already push the edges in a standard planner, the Nancy will feel cramped.
Anyone who needs a high-volume monthly view. If your monthly page needs to hold a lot of detail, the smaller boxes will feel limiting.
People looking for a single everyday life planner. To use an analogy, the small Nancy is a specialist, not a generalist.
The Small Nancy is not trying to be your everything planner. The people who love it most are the ones who don't ask it to be. If you really like the layout but are concerned about the size, the large will very likely be worth it for you.

The Laurel Denise Nancy small is my most purely functional planner that I own. Because I know exactly what I'm asking it to do. It has one focused purpose, and for that role, it's nearly perfect.
The small monthly boxes are indeed a limitation if you need to track a lot of detail there. Everything else works exactly as it should - compact, focused, flexible in its weekly layout, and built with the quality and style that is Laurel Denise.
If you have a specific area of your life that deserves its own dedicated planning space, the Nancy is worth every penny.
